Uncover the hidden advantages that comfort and protection bring when sailing your Flying Fifteen keelboat.

Racing enthusiasts know that every detail counts when it comes to enhancing performance and prolonging the life of their gear. This is often all about mast rake, prebend, polishing your hull and giving everything regular check overs.

What many Flying Fifteen sailors don't always think about is the comfort factor. The choice of gear in your boat can be part of the bigger picture to makes life easier. Comfort is about how things feel when you are sailing, but also the comfort of knowing that your boat is being well looked after, or the kit is reliable and not going to lose you a race due to breakage.

The Purpose and Benefits of Foil Bags

Flying Fifteen keelboat foil bags are specifically crafted to safeguard your keel and rudder during transport and storage. They act as protective shields against scratches, nicks, UV light and moisture. This not only helps maintain the aesthetic quality of your equipment but also preserves its functionality and reduces cost over time associated with maintenance and repairs.

Our Toestraps and Covers - a Tailored Touch

The range of of custom Flying Fifteen accessories that we manufacture should help out in a few ways. Here are specific items that can greatly improve your sailing experience:

Toestraps

Toestraps play a vital role in comfort. You lean out on them much of the time when sailing and well fitting, adjustable straps with soft padding can make your job just a little easier. We do have a toestraps section on the dinghies page of the site, so for more information please take a look!

Flat Covers and Overboom Covers

With a flat cover, these are best for trailing and exposed locations, where the design can provide less windage. Overboom covers are great for boatparks, as they keep rainwater from pooling and they also leave more space beneath the cover for storage of sails etc.

Our Rope and Tapered sheets - Precision and Performance.

Split Tail Mainsheets

Custom split tail mainsheets with a long tapered section can improve your sail control and handling, allowing for easier adjustments during sailing. The reason for the long tapered section is that the Dyneema section of the mainsheet runs through blocks more smoothly and with less friction. The taper can stop before reaching the cleat, meaning that you can have the ratchet on to grip the sheet and the dyneema above where you don't need the outer jacket. This can be particularly important during competitive races where every second counts. A tapered mainsheet adds both smoothness and effectiveness to your manoeuvres.

Tapered Jib Sheets and Spinnaker Sheets

Investing in tapered jib sheets and spinnaker sheets reduces weight and enhances trimming, which translates to better performance. Using custom sheets can improve your boat speed with less weight pulling on the sails in light winds. This fine-tuning helps sailors adapt to different racing scenarios, ensuring peak performance at all times.

Our machine tapered spinnaker sheets are also really comfortable to hold, while being made with Dyneema, Technora and Polyester, so they are really bombproof.

The Flying Fifteen is a competitive keelboat class and the little details matter. We aim to make the overall experience for you better with the bits we sell and have thought through them all a great deal to make sure that every product can offer something better than a standard/basic product..

Whether you're racing against the clock or leisurely cruising, having the right gear will prepare you for whatever you encounter on the open water. Get ready to embark on your next sailing adventure with confidence.
